Hazrat Sultan Bahu (1631-1691) was born in village Avan of Jhang district . His father Bazid Muhammad and mother Bibi Rasti-Quds-Sara were of quiet nature. He is among the greatest mystics of India. Hazrat Sultan Bahu belonged to the Qadri school of Sufis and was a disciple of Hazrat Habib-ullah. He is not defiant towards Sharia. The tone of his verse is melancholy. He believes in Sufi formula of ‘dying before death.’ He wrote many books in Persian including Nurul Huda (Light of Guidance) and Risala-e-Roohi (Book of Soul). He wrote Siharfis in Punjabi.
